Do you remember when you first got started in your MLM or network marketing business?

Do you remember sitting thru your first presentation?  Do you remember what you were thinking at the time.

Knowing what you know now,  would you have done the presentation differently if you were the one giving it?

It’s important to put yourself in the prospect’s shoes.  While you’re the person conducting the interview, it’s also important for you NOT to drive away a good prospect by what you say and do.

Here are the top 4 things your prospect wants to know when they listen to your business presentation:

1)  What is this?

This question can mean something like:

  • What is the business/product/service?
  • Who is it for?
  • Why do they use it?
  • How often?

It is good to have a brief – and I do mean brief – answer to this question.

2) Does it work and will it work for me?

Prospects want to know if the business/product/service actually works.

  • Have people done or used it successfully?
  • How did they do when they used it?
  • Why did they choose yours?
  • Do they continue to use it?

3) Is it something I can do?

Now they’re beginning to imagine themselves with the business/product/service themselves.  They’re wondering whether they could do what you’re doing now.  They’re wondering if they have what it takes to be successful.  They don’t want to waste their time and money if it doesn’t.

They’re also looking at how you give the presentation and are wondering to themselves whether they could do the same.  They’re wondering if they’ll be doing this by themselves or with others.

4) What can I do if it doesn’t work for me?

Prospects want to know what their options are if things don’t work the way they hoped.  What can they do?  Can they send it back?  Can they get their money back?  What guarantees do they have?

Making the Presentation

Whether you’re building your business locally or long distance, it is always better to let your sales aids make the presentation for you.  That way you don’t have to.

When you let your sales aids make the presentation, you’re actually showing your prospect just how easy it is to make business presentations and how they can do the same.  All they have to do is…

  • hand out a DVD
  • give out a website URL
  • press PLAY on a DVD or web browser
  • hand out a brochure
  • show up to the hotel or home presentation
  • call into a live conference call or webinar

I remember my old sponsor in Excel.  He once gave a 45 minute presentation in a hotel lobby.  His prospect sat and listened very patiently.  But as I sat their and listened, I couldn’t help but think..

“He sures knows a lot of information… It sure must have taken him a lot of time to learn all that… There is no way I can remeber all that… This business isn’t for me.”

Instead of doing all the selling and telling, my sponsor should have just walked his prospect thru the sales aids that were available to him.

I remember my early years in BodyWise.  We rarely made business presentations.  Instead, we just told stories.

We would 3way prospects into voice presentation lines and sizzle calls and let them listen to other people tell their story.  Those presentation lines did all the selling and telling for us.  If the prospect was still interested after listening to the presentation lines, we would then 3way them into a live person for even more testimonials.  Then we would ask for the order.  We would then 3way them into the Bodywise order department to help them place their order.

There were no webinars.  No websites.

Just stories.  And all the stories combined answered all the 4 questions that prospects wanted to know.

As I learned early on “facts tell but stories sell”.

So as you build your MLM or network marketing business opportunity, keep these things in mind.  Remember what the prospect want to know.  Then user your network marketing company’s tools to do the presentations for you so you don’t have to.

When you build your business this way, you’ll grow faster because you’re more duplicatable.
